Today, I’d like to highlight an inspiring example of how we can challenge the notion of limitations and embrace the full potential of every individual. Mohammed Ali, renowned for his contributions to boxing and social justice, is an exceptional role model who exemplifies the power of resilience and determination, regardless of intellectual assessments. Ali’s journey is a testament to the idea that a person’s value and potential are not confined by traditional metrics such as IQ. Ali’s IQ has been estimated to be around 78 which puts him in the borderline intellectual functioning range, below 70 would be classified as having a intellectual disability. Yet, despite facing challenges and being labelled in various ways he demonstrated that true strength and capability extend far beyond intellectual measurements.

Ali’s life underscores an important principle in our work, never limit individuals by redefined standards or labels. Instead we should focus on their unique strengths, aspirations and potential, we should approach each person with a mindset of possibility and support them. Every individual has unique talents and capabilities that can flourish with encouragement and opportunity and together we can continue to make a meaningful difference by valuing and nurturing the inherent potential in everyone we support.
