This video is a tool designed to inform service users on best practices for preventing the spread of infections within our services.
Infection control is a critical aspect of care that we cannot afford to overlook. Recent events, such as the unfortunate outbreak of food poisoning among some of the athletes in the Olympic Village at the 2024 Paris Olympics, serve as a reminder of how quickly an infection can spread, even among the healthiest of individuals. While the circumstances at the Olympics were different, the principles of infection control remain the same: vigilance, adherence to protocols, and immediate action when issues arise.
Our new video outlines key measures, including proper hand hygiene, and safe food handling practices—areas where we all must be diligent. By following these guidelines, we can significantly reduce the risk of infections in our care settings, much like how the Olympic organisers had to swiftly address and manage the situation in Paris.
